A "Heat Exchanger Gasket" is a term that has been giving to the
gasket that is called out for use in an exchanger. The make up of the
gasket or type varies due to the operating conditions of the exchanger.
Metallic gaskets can come in different types like Double Jacket, Single
Jacket, Solid Metal or a Spiral Wound. Soft compressible material can be
Rubber, CAF, PTFE, or Non-Asbestos Compressed sheet type.
Single Jacketed Gaskets The filler material is enclosed in a metal jacket which covers the
inside and outside diameter of the gasket.
Double Jacketed Gaskets The filler material is completely enclosed by a two piece metal
jacket, which covers both the inside and outside diameters and both
contact surfaces.
Soild Corrugated Metal Gaskets
As the name suggests, the solid corrugated metal gasket is comprised
solely of metal and does not contain any non-metallic fillers in its
construction. The temperature limitation of the gasket is therefore only
effected by the metal selected.
